Neo4j 2.2.0 on Ubuntu: Browser Interface NOT Accepting Default Password

I downloaded and installed Neo4j 2.2.0 on Ubuntu 14.04 i686. 

I ran the neo4j-installer and selected the default user (neo4j).

The localhost:7474/browser loads , but doesn't accept the default (or any other password)...please help.

The Windows install went off without a hitch, but my web server is on Digital Ocean and I want my test environment to be as my production server.

Can you check the javascript console of your browser for any error messages?

the default password is "neo4j" that's what you tried?
