Mailing list alternatives?

I nabbed a name for name for a slack server as an umbrella for a number
of overlapping RPG groups. Thought that it might be easier going forward
(esp since gaming will start to pick up), to have *everyone* there, with
individual games on private channels. But also a looking-for-group/game
channel, GM channel, etc.

I used to avoid slack, but I have to say I've come around after getting
involved with House Floats and a Cajun Navy. How does everyone else feel
about it? And, Discord is an option, too.
