Subject: Re: [MA-Discuss] Project in conjuction with Makerbot
Yes, we'd just be making the already existing board designs. However, I know I rarely get to make PCBs, so I thought it might be fun for others as well. Because of shortages for some components, I had to make some changes in the parts list. So we'd have to make a couple of changes for spacing on the solder pads, but nothing major.
Everything would be done at the space, so it'd be open for everyone to help out or learn.
If you'd like to know more about the process, let me know.

I am a little confused as to what we would be doing other than making the boards.... it seems like you wanted to modify something about the process but never said.

There is currently a shortage of electronic parts for Makerbots, mostly, I believe, because of a severe shortage for the ATMega168 (arduino microcontroller). So, I had an idea.
An awful, nasty idea.
For around $300, we can get all the electronics for building 5 motherboard/extruder boards (10 boards total). It could be an interesting project to modify the existing PCB design, photoresist it, etch it, and make the boards. Then we could test and either have a set of boards, or sell the extra boards (especially since nobody is selling them right now).
So, does anybody like this idea? If so, would you chip in with me (I just need a couple of people)?
Please let me know soon, so I can put orders in for the materials.
Thanks!
Justin
