Is anyone interested in learning about or getting started in 3D
printing?

I have 3D printers and supplies...would like to get a local group of
interested people together...

YES! I would LOVE to have a reprap. I've been working on a mantis variant for weeks, and it's coming together well. When I'm done, I'll release it for others to use later. Anybody want to send me plastics for a reprap? Haha

I would be interested in doing something like this. I can also offer the use of the Makers Alliance space on Broadway. We've been slowly working on some CNC projects of our own.

We can do a Prusa Mendel build. I can supply the printed parts, rods, nuts and bolts. And leave it at the hackerspace...the space would need to supply electronics, motors and make other bits like a heated build surface. I think Justin has Gen3 electronics and you could, at least temporarily, use the pololu drivers off the CNC machine you are building.

I'm not active so I was not going to ask to use the space but if you guys are interested, that should be fine. Just need to work out the date(s).

OK, I think this can work. I'll double-check the version on the motherboard that we have the next time I'm down there, but I'm pretty sure it will work.

Our typical "open to the public" hours are Tuesdays & Fridays from 7:00pm-11:00pm, and Saturdays from 1:00pm-5:00pm, but we can potentially schedule an event at any time.

Sam - it will be a couple of weeks before I'm ready. Need to print the parts and such.

Brain and Samuel - is assembling a prusa mendel of interest? Brian - would very cool to pull your expertise into a bot design.

How are things coming along?

I've now got the following collected/ordered:
1) Gen3 Motherboard
2) My Pololu carrier board and 4 A4983 driver boards
3) 3 opto endstops (PCB and optointerruptor, not assembled yet)
4) 6 NEMA 17 stepper motors (just ordered, should have them next week)

Anything else we need on our end? I guess whatever we need for a heated build surface?

Sam -

We started offering complete printer kits and been pretty swamped - several week backlog atm.

Do you know anyone looking for a part time job?

Primarily -

- Crimping/soldering
- Cutting/grinding
- assembling parts for kits

A student or stay at home parent maybe...but I need someone(s) who can take this seriously and be flexible.

----

Also, I'd be very interested in partnering with people to develop electronics and other items that we can use at MakerGear.

Perhaps we should organize a group build of printers...it is seems to be the rage atm. There is a large Prusa build in Europe today and some smaller builds elsewhere. Unfortunately, until we get through the backlog, my availability to do some of this fun stuff is quite limited.

Thanks,
Rick

Rick,
I'd be very interested in helping you out. I'm a high school student in Hudson, and I'd be happy to assemble some kits for you.
