Subject: This Thursday (3/3)! Albany Hepatitis C Regional Town Hall

Join us this Thursday (3/3) for the Albany Hepatitis C Regional Town Hall. Hear updates on the state of HCV in New York, and ways we can win funding and policy change to help end the epidemic in New York.

  • Location: Alliance for Positive Health, 927 Broadway, Albany NY
  • When: Thursday, March 3rd, 12pm-3pm
  • Sponsoring organizations: Albany & Schenectady Damien Center, Alliance for Positive Health, Catholic Charities of Albany, and VOCAL-NY (Contact Carlos Rosario to add your organization).
  • Contact: Carlos Rosario at 646-387-5138 or car...@vocal-ny.org

We will be joined by Colleen Flanigan, Director of the Viral Hepatitis Section of the Department of Health's AIDS Institute; Diana Aguglia, Plattsburgh Regional Director of Alliance for Positive Health; and Keith Brown, Executive Director of Catholic Charities Care Coordination Services.

Building a Statewide Movement: Well over 200,000 New Yorkers have chronic HCV infection, with an estimated 50% unaware of their status. HCV current kills more NYers than HIV/AIDS. And many HCV+ NYers are not engaged in medical care, or receiving lifesaving treatment.

VOCAL-NY and the NYS Hepatitis C Coalition are leading Hep C Town Halls across the state of New York to develop a "blueprint" to end hepatitis C in New York State, and to build a movement of New Yorkers dedicated to implementing it! So far we have held town halls in Syracuse, Buffalo and New York City.

How your organization can get involved:

  • Endorse: Become an endorser of the event & have your name added to all promotion.
  • Flyers & sign-ups: Hang up the attached flyers & sign-up sheets for clients & staff to sign. If you send them back to us we can call the people who signed to encourage them to attend, give them more details & give reminder calls. Something we like to do to promote attendance
  • Teach-ins: Have Carlos come to do a "HepTalk" at your organization, a 45-90 minute teach-in to encourage people to get involved.
  • Email: Send the below email to your networks.
