Xubuntu was originally intended to be released at the same time as Ubuntu 5.10 Breezy Badger, 13 October 2005, but the work was not complete by that date. Instead the Xubuntu name was used for the xubuntu-desktop metapackage available through the Synaptic Package Manager which installed the Xfce desktop.

Just sharing a bash solution for setting up quick switching between markdown and wysiwyg for xubuntu or ubuntu (probably works with other systems using xdotools and wmctrl) to get your system to dynamically click on that top right button (regardless of workspace, size and position of the joplin window)

@Dentonthebear I suspected something to do with xubuntu for no other reason than the notification icon in the dock was being erratic, also I vaguely remember a few other programmes wouldn't work if they can't access a notification panel. I posted the apt history because I guessed an update elsewhere had borked enpass but I've got no idea if enpass relies on one of those modules or packages.

I fear I'm being ignorant - and this is more for my future interest - [1] when you had a lib file missing I assume that was an xubuntu/ shared libfile or was it a part of enpass? or something else? [2] do you think " apt-get --fix-missing ... " would have helped (is that what you did?) ... or did you manually install a specific dll from an error message? or something else

I have two hard drives on my laptop - 1 TB HDD and 128 GB SSD - originally I had ubuntu 22.04 on the HDD and Windows 10 on the SSD and dual booted them - when I started my computer I had a choice in grub as to which would boot - I decided to put xubuntu on the SSD and now when I boot my only option is the Xubuntu partition and a Windows Boot Manager - but my system no longer has windows. The partitions look like the following:
