The above mentioned ambulance has experienced random activation of the windshield wipers without being turned on by the driver of the ambulance. This problem has been ongoing since a few months after taking delivery of the ambulance. We have also experienced the random activation on this trucks twin, but not to this continuous level. The problem appeared to be stemming from faulty multi-function switches located in the steering columns of the trucks, but after replacing several of the multi-function switches the problem still existed. A wiring harness upgrade was then performed at the request of the Freightlienr engineering department. The next step consisted of replacing the bulk-head module which was completed about a month ago. As our luck would have it the windshield wipers self-activated within hours of bulk-head module being replaced. Our local Freightliner dealer as well as a representative from Daimler appear to be at a loss about this problem. This seems to be a common problem among many makes and models of Freightliner according to the mechanics at our Freightliner repair facility but a solution is unable to be found.
