Good Afternoon All,

I am struggling with our 2012 Chevy G4500 chassis and was wondering anyone had any suggestions or insight into our problem.

The ambulance in question has about 12000 miles on it and ~500 engine hours. We have had repeated problems with the vehicle either not giving us a warning that it needs to regen until the "check engine" light comes on requiring dealer intervention to "force a regen" OR show us the message "Cleaning Exhaust Filter Keep Driving Until Message is Cleared" and but the message never clears. I have had a "normal" regen cycle only once in the life of the vehicle so far.

Currently this vehicle is at the local Chevy dealer having the DPF filter completely replaced and keeping it out of service for the remainder of the week waiting for parts.

Has anyone encountered this problem before? What was the solution? Any suggestions on how to prevent it? Is there a way for me to be able to "force" the regen without having to take the vehicle out of the service for the day and having it sit at the dealer?

Thanks,
Harry

Have the same issue, our 2 Chevys heads reworked several coolers. We made the mistake of trying to replace 3rd cooler and egr valve. Had to walk away from it several times. Would of been easier tp pull engine. Sat at the dealers for weeks, they r just as puzzled as we r that Chevy could make such junk. Probaly because Ford hasnt made a good engine since the 7.3. Any one out running Dodges? We have a fleet of 34 now except for the jeep cant say much good about the rest. I dont mind the job security but would love to get cout up someday. We have 2 10's and one 09 and have had no similar problems.  Close to 100k on each--was wondering if maybe urea mix might be contributing problem.  We have 2012 coming in the few weeks--so would like to hear any solutions.

Good luck

I know our Freightliners can only be forced into "Regen" by the service center which only happens on rare occassion for us. It sounds like you should throw the ball into Chevy's court. Surely, this reoccuring problem is being covered under warranty?
