Hello NM,

At dancing practice the other day we were talking about meeting
venues at which we could do activities (such as archery, dancing,
combat) as well as discuss things etc. Obviously we can still meet
at Eryls, but it isn't so suitable for archery with the long
grass...Rosemarie later came up with the offer of her place, so we
went to check it out. Whilst there we were talking about the autumn
camp, and whether it would be at Eryls or Jim and Dilyse's in Golden
Bay...the upshot was Rosemary and Howard have very kindly offered us
the use of part of their property at Hope for the up coming camp. The
site is well suited.

The camping area is a flat paddock of short grass, with a shelter
belt of trees on the south side. There is a dividing fence bisecting
the paddock into two which would be ideal for archery in the other
half. We can use the house for toilet/shower. There is plenty of room
to set up the tents, awning and have a cooking area as well.

We would probably need to get a fire permit (but that should be
straight forward) We will need some hay bales for the archery butts
the paddock is approx 75m long but overshooting arrows will need to
be catered for as there is a house at either end of the paddock but
separated by gardens and trees of approx another 25m.

If any one wants to check out the site - they are welcome to contact
us for details.

As far as I am aware no decision was made about a definite location
for the camp. With March 10-11 being the favoured weekend in the poll
so far perhaps we need to make a decision soon. Responses welcome.

Cheers Mike

Hi there
I disappointed that I won't be sleeping in my own bed! The guineapigs will
be relieved though. Rosemary's place sounds like a good solution, and the
10th/11th works for us.

Hi

I don't really mind where we have the camp, but I want to point out that we had agreed to do it at Eryls place and also to use the camp to create some more permanent installations there. Also she put in some work already.
Eryl: As long as you are not too dissapointed I just go wherever the herd is going to.

Who will take care to organise the camp, the food, activites etc.? It's time to inform everybode on the non admin list too and to have a registration available.

Cheers,
Markus

Hello NM,

No decision was made after inspecting Eryls place.( The campsite inspection was left late in the day and no discussion occurred afterwards, as everyone left). The date preferred (March 9-10-11) for a camp is too short notice for Rosemary and Howards place.

If we want to do something on that date - even at Eryls, it is still getting very late to organise a camp. Perhaps we could have a day/evening event on the Saturday. Then we could all decide on a definite camp date together.

Failing that I suggest that Eryl chooses a date for the camp at her place -  based on Marcus's chart and we stick to it.

Cheers Mike

Hi all

It's getting colder, so let's pull a camp together at our place for the coming weekend (10/11th March).

I know it's short notice, but according to Markus' poll it's the weekend that suits the most people, and I'd rather go ahead and have something than leave it until perhaps it gets too cold or everyone gets too busy.

I will try to get as much of the camp area deforested and levelled as I can this week (volunteers very welcome!), but if everyone brings their own food and self-caters it will be easier than trying to sort a general menu in the time available, and we'll have a pot-luck shared meal on the Saturday night. Low stress is good. Could you all please let me know the dimensions of your tent footprints?

I'll do a chicken casserole and a pot of vege soup for the Saturday night, and I will make porridge for breakfasts, can also make bread loaves/rolls for lunches.

Yvonne's idea of learning something to share is really good, so Beth has volunteered to demonstrate trencher-making, I found a great easy mead recipe I've started and can talk people through (so far it's fermenting happily in our hot water cupboard; does anyone know how to rack off alcohol?), all of you have mad skills so if you can please think of something to demonstrate then tag it onto the email and a rough timetable can be drawn up.

Set up will be Friday afternoon/ evening, and pack-down will be Sunday afternoon, and those who can't camp this time around are very welcome for any part they can make it for.

Please commit to this if you can :)

I think this is a great idea and I support it! For the archers we can have a mini 3D course, that will be awesome!

Cheers,
Markus

Nice one - not sure if we can make it though since I'm on at the theatre (for anyone who's interested we're on tonight and tomorrow, the thur/fri/sat next week).  Have fun :-)

Cheers,
