Hi all,

I haven’t had anyone respond about the ticket price for the Tavern revel?  Did this email come through earlier?

Are you happy with $3 a head for everyone?  = 17 people to break even, or we could go to $2 a head if we can guarantee 25 people.  We need to decide so that we can start spreading the word now before people book themselves up – it’s only 3 weeks away!

Here’s the text to send to people – I don’t have time to make up a pretty invite and my computer is in the shop for repairs.  :(   Once people have agreed the ticket price, please fill it in and forward the email to friends and family.

I will be at Canterbury Faire from tomorrow, so will have only sporadic internet if any at all.

Tavern Revel at the Free House

Saturday 18 February

6pm onwards

Bring a plate of medieval finger food and sample the fine Free House ales in the fragrant environs of the yurt.  No BYO.

Bring medieval games and don your tavern garb.

You may wish to hang a posie around your neck to ward off the evil humours…

There will be incentives (of the sugary kind) for those who wish to entertain with a tale or a song, or a display of acrobatic skill.

Cost $X.  Pay at the door.

The Free House, 95 Collingwood Street, Nelson.

All the more reason to party!  I’m sure that won’t be a problem.  J

As no-one has objected, I’ll book the 18th with the Free House.  Alli can you update the website with the new date, please?

So, spread the word to your friends and family and anyone who might like to come see what we’re about!

Just thinking, to make it easier, do we want to just have a person at the door to take money rather than do tickets in advance?  What price do we want to set?  $5 with a discount for members, to $3?  Or make it $3 for everyone (considering people have to buy their beer from the Free House).

I’ll also ask about music facilities and see if I can put together some medieval-esque party music.  Something lively and not too scary for newcomers.

Here’s the invite I propose to send out – just have to add the correct cost to it.

That would be ok with us.  I will however beg to be excused setting up as the 18th is my birthday.

Hi all,

I have been in contact with The Free House about hiring the yurt for our Tavern Revel in February.  They have a booking for the 25th, but the 18th is free.

I’ve said we’d have 20-30 people.  They say that if we buy our drinks from them (such a hardship!) they would charge us $50 for hire.  Sounds like a pretty good deal to me!

So, I suggest we change the date to the 18th and book the yurt.  I’d also suggest that though we’d discussed this being a members only event last year, that we change that and make this open to family and friends, as the venue and the good beer may attract a few newbies and people who have expressed interest in joining the group.

What say you?

ok that's great Yvonne, let us know and I'll book you in.

We'd probably just charge a nominal $50 to cover cleaning etc - how does that sound?

Cheers Mic

Sounds great but we have a gig in the yurt that night. Sat Feb 18th is free though...

We are planning a medieval tavern night and thought the yurt would be the perfect place.  I would expect 20-30 people.  (What is the yurt’s capacity?)  Part of the attraction is the great beer you have, so we’d be drinking that.  I think we’d be looking at bringing our own food (bread and cheese and other vaguely medieval finger food), but could look at other options for food.

We’d be bringing along some board games etc for entertainment.

At this point we’re looking at Saturday 25th February.  Probably from 6pm onwards.  There would be a few children attending also.

Hi Yvonne,

Absolutely, yes we do hire out the yurt.

Fees depend on type of event, number of people and other stuff like food and drink. It can even be free if Free House drinks sales are involved!

What kind of event did you have in mind?

Cheers Mic

Hi,

Just wondering if it’s possible to hire the yurt for a private event?  And if so, what are the fees?

Thanks.
