I'm trying to delete the "highborn" powers from a High Elf character (don't ask why, it's for... reasons). I can delete the active 50 point magicka boost with:player.removespell 00105f16 but when I try to delete the regeneration power with: player.removespell 000e40c8, the console tells me: "Spell 'Highborn' not found in player". Furthermore, I can't delete any spells like flames or healing. I just get "Spell 'whatever' not found in player". What's my problem?
You should type in "help highborn" and see what results you get. Navigate using Page Up and Down, and look for the spell, shout, or power, depending on what you want to remove. Try it again with the code that's listed there. If that doesn't help, research the spell via Google or so, and see what ID's are listed there.
One would think that Bethesda would have provided a way to remove spells from your spellbook. After all, one does not really need a 5-point Fire Ball spell when one has a 10-point spell available. But noooo. Once a spell is in your spellbook, it's there permanently. Jared, one of the users on the game forums, has come up with a way to get rid of them. It's not pretty, but it does work. I expect that all of this will become unnecessary after the patch is released, but for now this is the only known way. XBox users are kind of out in the cold.
Run Oblivion and load up your character.
Hit the tilde key (above TAB and to the left of the number 1 key).
Type into that advlevel. After that close oblivion, making sure not to save your file. Now find the LevelupData_1 file.
You'll have to go to the oblivion root file its at
Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion
Now look for a text file in that folder that should be called LevelUpData_1.
The information in here even though its in plain txt might be somewhat confusing. But this is all you need to now. I'll use my levelupdata file as a example.
Administrator Jared Dark Elf Battlemage The Mage 21 Destruction
Thats the information thats stored each time your character levels up.It follows these same pattern,of course it'll look different for you.If you never deleted these file you should have all of your information from level 2 and up, see after my sign which is the mage it than shows the level you gained. Just remember to go to the bottom of the list of the file until you find the last level up you did. In these case I used it to go to level 21 After that look down the list and you'll see information that'll look something like these,of course it'll look different for you but these is just a example.
Flash Bolt (000A97E0),Flare (000A97DF),Eyes of Eventide (000A982F),Electric Shell (000A982A)
The first is the spells name followed by the spellid, these part which is clearly for the first one 000A97E0 that is what you want to write down, or whatever you have to do to remember it.
Run Oblivion and load up your character.
Now hit the tilde key (above TAB and to the left of the number 1 key)
OK now click on your character (you will need to be in third-person view to do this) your characters name and some other info should display in the top of your screen. Now type "removespell" followed by the number(s) of the spells you wrote down. example: removespell 000A97E0 then push enter and repeat until all the spells you want deleted are gone.
(My Note: rather than going to third-person view and clicking on yourself, you should be able to use the command, "player.removespell" [without the quotes, of course] and the spell's Hex ID number)
Enjoy a much more manageable spell book.
A nice thing about these is you can get rid of any spells custom and standard ones alike.
I want Berlyna Maryon to be one of my followers but her constant casting of Oak/Stone/Iron -flesh spells during combat really annoys me. I just want her to summon an atronach and use a -flesh spell once, then use destruction magic for the rest of the battle.
The problem is, I can't find a way to remove spells from NPCs. I tried the console command "removespell " but it doesn't do anything. According to AFT, Berlyna seems to have unique spells (e.g. IronfleshLeftHand) and I can't find the IDs of those spells.
And I think I found the problem - it's the mod called "Balanced Magic". The mod makes all -flesh spells have the same rank (Novice) so if a NPC has more than one -flesh spells, her AI gets confused because she doesn't know which spell is the best.
Your only sure way is to either: use a follower overhaul, which you did (though it isn't always foolproof) or use the CK. For whatever reason, the game won't always let you remove a spell from an NPC, even when you know the spellid.
the problem with using the console is that i believe there are multiple IDs for certain things, including spells, which can be a bit of a pain. i discovered this with Serana, i wanted her to use the spells from the Soul Cairn and had to use the console to give them to her. when i typed in "help Wraithman" i noticed that there are several spells called "conjure Wraithman" all with different IDs so i had to apply each one to her to see if that would work. eventually it did, and she even kept those spells even after i had quit the game. it is a pain in the rear end but it does work eventually, its just a matter of finding the right ID. i think the same would apply with removing them, it doesnt necessarily have to be which hand the spell is applied to.
earlier when i used the holy-featherfall spell (listed under powers) it activated and deactivated after 10 second like its supposed to,Now it wont deactivate and im stuck being invincible,Cant die,Cant use spells on myself,And potions dont do anything.
That said i found the only solution to be, 3rd person mode, open console, click on yourself and type resurrect BUT!! it strips me of all my active effects and everytime i load up the game ill have to do it again
IF it is just a glitch, that may be all you have to do. If the problem is caused by a scripting error, mod conflicts, etc, then it will recur any time you try using it--in which case you might try opening it up in TES5Edit, and/or double checking the mod site to see if the problem has a known solution.
I took a quick look on the comments section for Phenderix Magic Evolved - 296 Spells and it seems someone named RicJ reported this problem back on 3rd Nov but there hasn't been any reply from anyone. As for the author of that mod, he/she hasn't been seen since late August.
Tried to disable all mods except Skyrim.esm and update after travelling to a safe spot (Whiterun), But the bug persisted even after waiting 30 days, Deleted the mgef id via tes5edit only to ctd everytime i tried accesing the magic menu, Fixed it by downloading the mod again and overwriting the broken one ups but again my cute little bug persisted. EVIL SCRIPT GO AWAY I BANISH YOU FROM THIS REALM uh sorry about that  Also tried showracemenu didnt work either, is there some other way to refresh your charachter ?? buuu hooo
Opened console and typed "player.recycleactor" The bug was still there, but when i used holy-Featherfall it activated and ended again and lifted this horrible curse Almost considered having a normal life pheeew thank heavens that didnt happen
Step #6 If you are uninstalling mod(s) you will need to strip naked and store your gear in a player home (if you don't have one yet, use anywhere that is listed in safe places link above, make a backup save just in case).
Step #7 Check and make sure your active effects are clear, if not then click on yourself and type this in the game console: "dispelallspells" (without quotes) and recheck active effects. This will cure vampirism and lycanthropy so if you have one of those, you must add it back with console after finishing the procedure.
As stated in the guide any active spells you will have to console back on afterwards if you are lazy, otherwise just go get a blessing or visit a stone or whatever you did to get it in the first place.
I go around adventuring with 6 followers. One of those are Esbern. The problem is, he uses a flame cloak spell, which often results in my whole team going apes and attacking him. Esbern even killed my dog! Is there a way to through console commands remove the Fire Cloak spell from him?
I also tried with the Fireball spell he has, because that also often damages my followers, but it said the same thing. And I don't think there are other spells that look like fire surrounding the character, or a ball of fire that then explodes.
I was afraid of that there was a very similar thread about Savos Aren and it didn't work on him either, the only other thing i can think of is if you know how use TES5Edit or the Creation Kit remove the spell with those programs or see if he has a unique version of the spell and what the id is.
This page lists all of the spells that appear in Oblivion. Spells can be purchased from spell merchants, received as rewards for quests, and received during character creation depending on chosen major skills. Almost every spell has a corresponding tome that is only introduced with the Spell Tomes official download. Reading a tome will allow you to instantly learn its spell, and there are some spells in the game that can only be acquired through reading its tome.
Spells can be added via the console using the player.addspell command, followed by its Form ID. For example, player.addspell 000A9822 would add Heal Major Wounds to the list of known spells. The command PlayerSpellBook or psb will add every spell defined in the game, including those from mods, test spells, and others not normally accessible to the player. Due to the amount of spells added this can have an adverse effect on game performance when accessing the spell list. Not all spells unlocked through this command will work, and some will not work as expected.
The game does not feature any way to remove a known spell except for using the command player.removespell followed by the spell's Form ID, e.g. player.removespell 000A97CA would remove the spell Calming Touch from the list of known spells. This method does not allow you to use the spell's name again for custom spells; the game will simply act as if a spell of the same name still exists.
