I am hosting a workshop in January at the Stewardship Network Conference in Lansing, MI with Robert Ziel (Zeke, Fire Analyst) and Persephone Whelan from the Huron Manistee National Forest. We are going to review LANDFIRE and fire behavior fuel models (FBFMs) in general, as well as the fuel model critique that was done in Huron Manistee in 2013. Additionally we'll explore how the LANDFIRE Total Fuels Change tool (
https://www.landfire.gov/download_lfdat.php) was used in this effort by our colleague Don Helmbrecht. The purpose is to teach attendees how to use this tool with a real world example, and to connect people who have an interest in this type of work. I may even be able to squeeze in a presentation from one of the developers of the IFTDSS, which allows you to create landscape files and edit fuel model rulesets all via the web tool.
Note the workshop is on a Saturday, and requires a $180 registration fee.
