to LANDFIRE in the Northeast
Hi all,
LANDFIRE is taking ideas for webinars to host in 2018. I've been in touch with a few folks on ideas to propose, listed below. Please let me know if you have any others! (post here or send to megan....@wisconsin.gov)
LANDFIRE overview and examples of applications in the Northeast
Guidance on using the tools in fragmented (and developed) landscapes
Including overview of burnable/unburnable agriculture and 'urban forests', especially in terms of fuel models and fire behavior
Classification of herbaceous fuels in cropland (seasonal variation in fuel load and moisture, and year to year changes due to crop rotations)
Focus on specific aspects of LANDFIRE and how they can be used in management applications, e.g.
What is a Biophysical Setting (BpS) and how can it help you prioritize Rx fire areas?
Explanation of datasets typically used in risk assessments and examples of how to use them
Similar to above but for other management applications
Examples of where LANDFIRE was used and modified/calibrated
