Hi,

I have two periodic pairs in my model. How can I do this in ICEM and use Exo2nek to convert the mesh? My periodic vectors are 0.2385,0,0 and 0,0.22385.

I tried defining periodicity in ICEM with just one pair, and when I use exo2nek, it shows me an error: " not a match, and the vectors change to 0.2385/2, -0.22385/2,0.

I tried also with copy mesh for two pairs; the error is still there.

Can someone help me please?

Hi,

As long as your mesh is conformal is on the periodic faces, exo2nek should work for you.

You should assign different sidesets for different faces in the periodicity part.

for example, if
sideset 1 -> sideset 2
sideset 3 -> sideset 4

then 1 and 2 are one pair, 3 and 4 are the other pair.
You do not need to assign translation vector, but you have to make sure your periodicity in translational periodicity.

Let me know if you have any issues.

Hi,

Now the mesh works; I just did it in ICEM based on a copy-and-transform mesh.

But another problem is that my mesh number is about 333100; it is a really coarse mesh, I think. But the solver always seems to have problems with this mesh. I changed the memory size, makenek flag, and lxd=8, and it still gets stuck at generate geometry.
I don't quite understand how coarse a mesh the Nek5000 solver requires. I went through the last tutorial case. It also has this problem.
