Hi everyone,

I wanted to know more about the MHD capabilities of Nek5000. It would be great if someone could provide references for any publications with Nek5000 using the MHD module or directions on where I could find them.

We are planning to use Nek to simulate MHD in fusion reactor blankets, so any directions to DNS of MHD flows would be of great help. Also, I found that there are limitations in the boundary conditions of the magnetic field (constrained to similar conditions as velocity). Has this been improved or being improved currently?

Thanks,

Hello Arpan,

The Nek5000 MHD solver is based on non-dimentional incompressible Pn-Pn-2 formulation in a single fluid domain with constant properties but won't be  hard to extend with further development focus.

Please contact me at oba...@mcs.anl.gov if you need more details.

Thanks
Aleks
