Subject: assistantships available in Central Michigan University's Science of Advanced Materials PhD program
Dear colleagues:
At this time of year, seniors are considering their futures and many
will be applying to graduate programs. We are writing to ask you to
spread the word that we are looking for outstanding students to join the
Science of Advanced Materials (SAM) Ph.D. program at Central Michigan
University. The SAM program has a unique, "materials by design"
structure that emphasizes the combined use of synthesis, modeling, and
characterization in the development of novel materials. This
interdisciplinary program draws faculty from several departments across
the College of Science and Technology, with interests in an array of
materials problems. Many are involved in collaborative projects with
area industrial labs and high tech start up companies.
We have a number of new graduate assistantship positions available for
talented students with undergrad degrees in physics or chemistry. We
also consider students with degrees in mathematics, engineering, geology
or biology and a strong interest in advanced materials. The
assistantships carry attractive, calendar-year stipends and full tuition
remission. CMU offers excellent educational and research facilities,
and a proud tradition of high quality teaching.
Attached is a flyer with additional information about the SAM Ph.D.
program and how to apply. We ask you to share this information with
students interested in graduate studies. Alternatively, students can
learn more about the program by contacting us directly via email at
sam...@cmich.edu <mailto:sam...@cmich.edu> or by visiting our website
online at http://www.cst.cmich.edu/phd-sam.html
