The first open meeting of the NEIU SPS is scheduled for Monday,
September 22nd at 7:00pm. We will be meeting in the physics lab
SCI-237.
WE NEED SOME PEOPLE TO VOLUNTEER TO BRING SNACKS AND DRINKS! A bag of
chips, some cookies, a two-liter or a case of soda, etc. If you're
going to bring something, post it here so we don't have too much or
too little. Dr. Acioli will be helping out by funding the pizza.
Thanks again, Paulo!
On that note, I will bring a huge bag of Funyuns and a two-liter of
diet soda. That went over very well last time.
We have a few subjects to discuss at this meeting. If anyone wants to
add anything to this list, post it here:
- Our Fly Day Fall 2008 event
- Expanding use of the new NEIU SPS Website
- Sigma Pi Sigma Quadrennial Congress 2008
- Science Fair Central participation (coming up fast!)
- Participation in MSI's Science Chicago -- Science Saturday event
planning
- This year's chapter project (crossing my fingers to do some
fusion!)
I'm hoping to bring in a few newcomers to the meeting. So, if any
current members can visit some of the physics classes to promote the
SPS, please do so. Use a couple minutes at the beginning of the class
(with the professor's permission, of course) to say:
- We're the NEIU SPS, a student organization promoting physics in
the community
- We help NEIU students by offering homework assistance, financial
support for undergradute research (REU), and a great place to meet
others involved in physics
- We meet monthly, and there are no dues
- Free pizza, snacks, and beverages at meetings
- Come on out & see what we're about!
- WRITE THE DATE, TIME, & LOCATION OF THE MEETING IN THE UPPER
CORNER OF THE BLACKBOARD/WHITEBOARD IN THE CLASSROOM
See y'all there!
