The January meeting of the NEIU SPS will be held on Wednesday, January
14th at 7:05pm. We will meet in physics lab SCI-237.

We encourage ANY NEIU STUDENTS or ANY NEIU NEIGHBORS with an interest
in physics to join us for this open meeting. There are no dues or
fees for becoming a chapter member, and free food, snacks, and drinks
will be available.

I will start off the meeting with a five-minute intro about the SPS
for any new attendees that are interested in our chapter. The next
40-45 minutes will be breakout for project groups, open mingling, and
food & drinks. The groups that we will breakout into are:
- Fusion project (led by John Papiewski)
- Outreach program (led by Greg Freimark)
- Rocket project (led by Sam Kolontouros)

Around 7:50pm, we will start the more formal meeting. Subjects that
will be covered are:
- Science Chicago event for Spring 2009 (Fly Day)
- Student Seminars
- Future of the NEIU SPS Chapter
- Physics Tutoring

FOOD: I would like to see some different faces volunteering to bring
in snacks and drinks. Dr. Acioli has faithfully supported us by
funding the pizza for every meeting, and most of the same members are
volunteering to bring in other snacks. Please....we need maybe three
people to step forward and offer to spend about $5 on drinks and/or
snacks each.

We're just one week out from the first day of classes (Mon, Jan 12th)
and only nine days out from our first meeting of the semester (Wed,
Jan 14th).

I'd like to make this a successful meeting in three ways:
(1) Maximize attendence for returning chapter members.
(2) Entice new members and interested third parties (friends of the
NEIU SPS) to make their first meeting. (Hook 'em, then reel 'em in.)
(3) Get as much member input into the chapter projects for this
semester as possible.

Seems like attainable goals to me. In the spirit of #2 above, I'm
asking everyone who can do so to visit AT LEAST ONE undergraduate
science class. This means Physics I & II, Lab I & II, Gen Chem I &
II, Calc I, II, & III, etc. classes. Just take the first two mins of
class to tell them about NEIU SPS, what we do, and when we're
meeting. Let's hit up as many classes as we can.

Thanks to all,

Hi Greg and all

I am not taking classes this semester, but I still can help out with the Fusion project, "Science Chicago", etc.

Sorry I missed the last meeting, but I will attend the next.
