The November meeting of the NEIU SPS will be held on November 17th at
7:30pm. As per usual, we will meet in physics lab SCI-237.
Due to the success of last month's format, we're going to stick to it
for this meeting. The first 40-45 minutes will be breakout for
project groups, open mingling, and snacks/pizza/drinks. The groups
that we will breakout into are:
- Fusion project (led by John Papiewski)
- Outreach program (led by Steve Burkland)
- Rocket project (led by Sam Kolontouros)
- Sigma Pi Sigma Quadrennial Congress Reporters Award (led by Greg
Freimark)
Around 8:15pm, we will start the more formal meeting. Subjects that
will be covered are:
- Sigma Pi Sigma Quadrennial Congress presentation
- Science Chicago event for Spring 2009
- Student Seminars
- Improvements to the Science Building (Dr. Anderson will speak
about the grant he received)
- I will be spend 5 minutes presenting the solution to the problem
of Buffon's Needle and speaking about it's ability to statistically
calculate pi (provided no one else wants to cover the time by doing
their own research-oriented presentation)
FOOD: I would like to see some different faces volunteering to bring
in snacks and drinks. Dr. Acioli has faithfully supported us by
funding the pizza for every meeting, and most of the same members are
volunteering to bring in other snacks. Please....we need maybe 3
people to step forward and offer to spend about $5 on drinks and/or
snacks each.
