Crackling : There are random audio popping noises / crackling happening all the time, while simply listening to music, gaming etc. The crackling also occurs while the system is idle and just playing music. The speakers are brand new and not having any issues when paired with another audio source than the PC.
Audio driver crashes: While audio's active, it can happen that an external drive is plugged to a front USB 3 port, the audio driver will completely crash (speaker icon with a red cross). I suspect that it could be due to a (hardware) PCI problem:
based on your issue, you can try entering the Sonic Studio tab on the MB device page and turning off the switch in the top-left corner to see if it resolves the popping sound issue.
If the problem persists, please remove the Bongiovi SDK to see if it helps.
Here are the steps to remove Sonic Studio (Bongiovi SDK):
1. Confirm the existence of the folder C:\Program Files\BongioviMBApp.
2. Access the MB device page and set the switch in the top-left corner of the Sonic Studio tab to the OFF position (if you cannot access the MB device page, start from step 3).
3. Reboot your system.
4. Without opening AC, navigate to the folder C:\Program Files (x86)\ASUS\ArmouryDevice\dll\MBLedSDK, and run BongioviBinaryDeleter.exe in administrator mode.
5. Confirm that the folder C:\Program Files\BongioviMBApp has disappeared.
6. Reboot your system.
Also, the backend team released MB SDK v3.00.21 yesterday.
Please go to Armoury Crate to update your SDK.
After updating, please check to confirm whether the issues you encountered have been resolved.
Thank you.
Thank you for the reply and detailed instructions. I have since long completely uninstalled the Sonic Studio (unwanted) add-on in a deep cleaning mode: Registry entries, driver store, services, device manager etc. So I'm fairly certain that nothing related to SS3 remained.
Also: There were popping / crackling issues when SS3 was still there, but only with "sound activation"; that is: Only when launching an application that has audio. Now, I have random crackling during audio playback.
Armory Crate is not installed and I have no intention of using it. Or should I say: If it was possible to install separate modules (like the updater or possibly FanXpert) and not the whole thing, then perhaps yes. As it stands now, there are far too many unnecessary / unwanted features that come with loads of services - which do not get properly uninstalled when AC is uninstalled.
Recently, when I used my skype just to call my friend, suddenly, I heard a crackling or noises inside the laptop.
When I heard the crackling noises, suddenly my skype crashed and log out by itself.
I thought it will be fine and a little bit of errors
but it keeps doing the same thing over and over again
It crashed and logged off by itself after sometimes i was in the call with my friend.
The day after, When I used my laptop just to watch a movie, i also heard a crackling noises. or is it because the skype's issue with the hard-disk? I cant figure this out.
when I tried to play my game, suddenly, my screen also froze a little bit and my laptop makes a clicking/ crackling noises.
Then just today, i can't even open my skype.
When i tried to open my skype program (classic version) it makes a craclking noises and it just throw me back on the log in screen. When I tried to re-sign in again, it threw me back on the log in screen again.
I need help with this issue. I have no idea what's going on with this laptop at all..
If you import audio into Audacity that sounds OK in other players, then export it from Audacity as 16-bit WAV at 44100 Hz project rate (see bottom left of the Audacity window), and then play it in iTunes, does it still sound OK?
Typically I use an Apogee Ensemble in the studio and a Duet 2 for playing live. Playback conditions (same file, different devices) are: Ensemble - crackling, Duet - Choppy / Stuttering playing (possibly the same as noted by others?), Built-In Audio - No noticeable problems. Both headphones and line outs were checked in all cases.
Please tell us exactly what device you are recording and playing back with. Almost everyone that complains about various Mac playback problems are using external USB or Firewire devices and the problem goes away when using the built-in audio. Is that the case for you?
Another thing you could do is try is Audacity 2.0.1 ( -macosx-ub-2.0.1.zip ) and Audacity 2.0.2 ( -macosx-ub-2.0.2.zip ). Do either of those versions play (or record) without stutter at 96000 Hz? Most people who complain think that the problem started in 2.0.3 or 2.0.4. If so we need to identify exactly when this problem started.

Our traditional crackling problems are caused by the computer not going fast enough for live audio. Pieces get dropped during the course of the playback. The D/A converter hits a dead spot in the stream and goes briefly nuts. Some machines stutter as they simply repeat the last known data until something new comes along.
Thanks for the suggestions. The crackling issue is not affected by the load on the machine. The issue is identical if Audacity is the only application running or if (as I just tested) I have Audacity, Logic, Photoshop, Premier, Safari (multiple windows), Firefox (multiple windows), iTunes and Maestro running (going for a serious load test).
Hi Gale
The problem that occurred with 2.05 was with all my projects - I had about 10 stored and all had the same problem - they were all created in 1.3.
I was using my built-in output for playback.
I downloaded version 2.03 and it is working fine now - no problems
I reinstalled version 2.05 from the zip download and it had the same problem as previously reported.
One thing is that I noticed that when I first started version 2.03 and 2.05 after installation that the process was a little different in that version 2.05 went through a list of all the plug-ins on my hard drive and installed them one by one while version 2.03 seemed to load them behind the scenes (so to speak)
thanks

Yes that is correct for VST plug-ins. See Audacity Manual . Audacity no longer loads VST effects automatically on first run because an incompatible plug-in could cause Audacity not to start. With the list you can choose which VST plug-ins to install.
So recently MY ZF4 has started giving me a black screen and become unresponsive when I unfold the phone, it will also then sometimes automatically restart itself after the screen goes black. I have tried everything, including a factory reset but nothing has fixed this. I am just wondering it anybody else has had this? This phone is not even a month old, if it is a bug in the hardware or software, samsung needs to address it,
I have the same issue with my Z Fold 4. I heard a static crackling sound then the screen distorted and went back. I have to reset the phone by holding power and - volume. I have the Z fold 4 for about a month. I called Samsung support and they want me to send on the phone for repair. This is ridiculous on a top of the line Samsung phone. The phone is only a month old and they will not send me a replacement. I can still use the phone but can't unfold or it will crash and shutdown. Samsung needs to take care of it customer and should value the customer. Customer support told me to buy a cheap phone to use while my phone in repair.
I am very disappointed on how Samsung handle this issue on their hardware issue with the Z Fold 4. I have no choice but send in the device tomorrow for repair. Samsung should replace the phone instead of repairing it. It's only a month old and manufactured defect. How do you handle your phone issue?
Drambo runs fine for a while and all of a sudden, cracks popping and crash. iPad becomes unresponsive for a while, and because I hit the play button, after a while recovers and continues fine again. Sometimes, rarely, the device decides to restart.
Im on 14.7. I unfortunately, upgraded from, erm 13.Something that was working fine. From memory, which is sketchy, no problems like this when I was on 13. It could really be that, but that would mean more people would have this problem right?
Typically it happens quite quick, after 5 or 10 minutes after starting. Then, it could take a whole while before it happens again, or like last night, happen very consistently. This behavior is quite regular, I play every night, for quite long times. I have a feeling it improves a tiny bit when in airplane mode, and doesn't happen as often on super light projects of only 2 or 3 tracks. I have projects it happens all the time, after 5 minutes, really every time, but that's with 12, or even 15 tracks. Still, the resource meter never goes above 4 out of the 5 dots.
