I apologize if you already received this, but it's very important and wanted to be sure everyone knew of this opportunity to voice their opinion.  I hope you'll take some time to join your neighbors at this meeting.

Developers to Discuss Wendys at CRCA Meeting

Oct. 3 meeting brings official proposal to public talk.

After months of deliberations the official plan for 5901 Ridge Ave.--the former Bunting House property--is ready for public discussion. The rumors floated this spring proved to be true and a Wendys fastfood restaurant is official proposed for the corner of Roxborough and Ridge Avenues.

At the 7:30 p.m. Oct. 3 Central Roxborough Civic Association meeting, Frank Giovannone will present on behalf of the developers representing Wendys. The group needs a zoning variance to build a take out restaurant and for signs at 5901 Ridge property but has the ability, by right, to build a restaurant.

In the plan shared with the CRCA, the developers seek to build a one-story take-out restaurant that has a maxim height of 25 feet. The plan calls for 38 parking spaces, inside seating and a drive-through window. The group requests four free-standing signs. The group needs a special exception permit from the zoning board for the takeout restaurant. Additionally, zoning laws only permit one freestanding sign.

According to building plans, there will be two entrances--one each on Ridge and Roxborough.

The meeting will take place at Leverington Presbyterian Church, 6301 Ridge Ave.

Visit the Roxborough Wendys website or the neighborhood protest website for more info.

City Commissioners to Share Election Info

Barry Scatton, principal assistant for City Commissioner Al Schmidt, will attend the October CRCA meeting to discuss a new website on city elections. The website features many tools that will be useful for voters and the office is trying to speak at as many civic associations as possible to educate people about the services they can access.
