Hi all,

I just wanted to let you know we are being told there were 2 home burglaries in old Westbury in the last two evenings.

I  confirmed with the  VOW police today and asked then if they can kindly keep residents notified about burglaries so we can be aware.

One burglary was on Apple green @ 630pm and another on Copperfield lane.

Apparently the Alarm was  on and the burglars didn’t care. Outdoor furniture was thrown through the window, in and out in 4 minutes, took all jewelry and Hermès bags

So “if you see something, say something.”

Stay safe,

Robert

Hi,

There was  yet another burglary in the Village in the last few days within a few blocks of where the previous 2 burglaries (that we know of)  occurred.

It happened in  middle of the day, about 130pm and this time it occurred at a good friend's  house. Many of you know this  friend who prefers to remain confidential. But this young  mother and her young teenage  daughter were home at the time and they saw a older man with a white beard  (See attached pictures) walk onto  their property and  literally cut  their  power lines  from their house to  the street. The man used  a gardner's  branch trimming tool. There are pictures of this man attached.

The   police were called and thankfully responded within in 2 mins!  Our police force is great. That said, we don't know what next steps  happened  or if  anyone was arrested,   since we are told there is an  ongoing investigation.

OK but in the meantime,  IF YOU SEE SOMETHING, SAY SOMETHING.

Especially now. If you see something odd, what ever it is, call the police and have them check it out. I know that  our excellent police force is   being extra vigilant.

A few theories  circulating among residents.

-This is probably a burglary ring and not the work of 1 person: The older  man that   cut the wires may have been doing this to  probe  to see what would happen. IE, If power were cut and the police don't show up, then maybe there is no burglar  alarm or it malfunctioned. Then  the rest of the robbery crew shows up after  30 mins.
-These burglaries are clustered   within a few blocks of each other. This is not a coincidence.  One home backs up to a private south of  Applegreen, another home backs up the  Old Westbury Country Club. The 3rd is just 1 block from the Village police station. What reason would they be so close to each other? Are they all originating from  a house in the area?
-A burglary  in the middle of the day or at dinner time is unusual since people may be home.

Note that  in a separate event,  2 burglars caught in the Great Neck area near SaddleRock this week. They are alleged to be part of a Chilean group.
