Car Thieves Hit VOW

Hi,

We wanted to bring to your  attention  that  early on the morning of  9/23/21@ between 3-4 am there were several cars broken into  in the  Village. Not just 1 or 2 but "many" according to the police. 

We  are circulating this info  privately so that residents can be made  aware of this. 

The police have suggested in the past that some residents dont lock their cars  and in some cases have left  their keys or garage door openers in the car.  Seems like common sense to lock our cars, right?  

Car thieves "hitting" VOW seems to have become  a periodic event. Could this be because the VOW is  developing  a   reputation as a neighborhood where its easy to break into our cars?  Thieves are just like  bees attracted to honey.

Lets  shut it  down now. Its simple. Just lock  up our cars.   

The VOW police have sent an email our to be extra vigilant here.

I hope you are well.

 

We are told that there was a house robbery last night 10/3/21 at about 8-9pm on AppleGreen near Wheatly rd. Apparently no one was home at the time. 2^nd flr window broken and a dog was home at the time. Obviously everyone is concerned about house robbery.  Many residents were made aware of this  burglary thru word of mouth, texts ,etc.

Apparently a Village town hall meeting will be scheduled so that all residents can have the opportunity to speak to the VOW Police Chief so he can answer questions and concerns directly. He will also be able to provide information that won’t compromise ongoing investigations We are going to coordinate a date tomorrow.

 

 

Some other good suggestions: 

 

 

         -Increase VOW police cars that are randomly patrolling. (Probably already done)

 

         -Hire private security for the 8 hrs per day of highest risk and have an additional 6 or 10 cars driving around. 

 

         -Request that the VOW police or Town Hall confidentially alert residents to crimes so we are better prepared.
