For those who cannot attend the seminar, a panel discussion is also being held on Feb. 23 on UNC Asheville's campus in the Highsmith Student Union. The Center for Diversity Education recently hosted the screening of documentary film "Bullied" at Firestorm Cafe and Books. The film chronicles the story of a student from Northern-Wisconsin who stood up to the school district that did not protect him from bullying and harassment. You can borrow this film and other anti-bullying films from the Center for Diversity Education, or order Bullied for yourself for free here:

on December 9th, the Civil Rights Division released a video addressing the bullying and harrassment of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender youth. The video is a contribution the the nationalIt Gets Better Project.

Hosted by Children's First, Communities in Schools of Buncombe, and Safe Schools for All: Preventing violence and Crime in America's Schools, the From Put-Downs to Lock-Downs seminar will be at UNC Asheville on February 24 in the Education Dept. from 9:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. EARLY BIRD REGISTRATION ends on Feb. 10, and the final registration deadline is Feb. 16. Register today! This workshop is a must for educators and all youth-serving professionals.
