You are invited to attend this Government Alliance on Race and Equity event: Convening on Racial Equity Tuesday, August 5- 6. University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, MN

Ray R. LewisAt Large Representative of Governing Council at Minnesota Public Health Association

Across the Twin Cities region—in community, business, nonprofits and government — there is significant discussion about race and racial inequity. Across all indicators of success — jobs, housing, education, criminal justice, health or any other area — our region suffers from great racial inequities that are holding all of us back.

That’s the bad news. The good news is that we recognize the importance of addressing racial equity in our institutions, and see opportunity for greater impact by working together with community.

The goals of the Convening on Racial Equity are to:

Increase understanding of and commitment to racial equity and to making a real difference in the community
Share local and national racial equity best practices
Further cross-jurisdictional, cross-community, and cross-sector strategies for racial equity
Foster post-convening collaboration

The Convening is co-hosted by Minneapolis Mayor Betsy Hodges and St Paul Mayor Chris Coleman, and co-sponsored by nine governmental jurisdictions and nearly thirty community based organizations (see below for a complete list). Workshops will feature local work within government and in the community, as well as national best practices. Workshops will be interactive and provide concrete skills or tools.

We invite you to join us. Registration is required. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact julie nelson at Julie.n...@gmail.com
