I wanted to let you all know , I couldn't agree more about our discussion on Blueprint for Equity. We have talked this to death and more action is needed. I will not be able to attend the next Committee of the Whole. I will attempt to keep up on this thru our electronic communications, but wanted you all to know I am whole heartedly behind this effort.

I concur that this subject has been discussed times over however I have to acknowledge the efforts of staff Lance Knuckles who's works hard to bring all of this together and all of his work with helping us get on the same page around what the Blue Print for Equity actually is...

I must say that I walked away from the meeting thinking that we actually didn't allow for Mr. Knuckles to complete his presentation. Before he could present his final item commissioners were already opposing it, making motions to table it... Looking back it actually wasn't very respectful of his presentation and position as NCR staff nor standard practice in how we've treated any presentations i've seen come before us... We didn't even allow for him to give final nor closing words but I noticed that we gave a clap performance for Robert after his presentation and the space to close out with final words etc, he was provided the opportunity... Starch difference in treatment toward both staff who both presented a report/actions to us...  The Blue Print for Equity may be a bit more intense for some of us for various reasons which I understand, however the manner in which we facilitate, handle things in respect to due process is what I'm addressing here..... This actually bothers me especially considering that I launched right into my questions, statements and recommendations of how the Blue Print work can and should be more integrated, communicated and the need for more action which I still stand firm on... However this was not helpful considering how the presentation and discussion was managed by us as a commission...

I support the Blue print for equity, the framework, process it has taken thus far and the need to establish a task force as a was to ensure that commissioners are working more directly in helping to shape and take leadership in the Blue Print for Equity work... It is becoming of us to actually determine where we're headed with this project, perhaps we don't want a role in it, not sure but whatever it is we have to get it figured out as a commission rather than continuing to challenge, oppose, redirect staff efforts whenever this subject comes up... What are we for, what do we want to see happen here?  Leadership is required here.....

I apologized to Mr. Lance Knuckles already and vow to be more mindful forward, I encourage us all to do the same...

On top of it all Mr Knuckles came to present to us even after having totaled his vehicle suffering spinal injuries on his way to our commission meeting...

How we treat people matters!
