Well, finally got a re-schedule date for our ARES meeting. We’ll meet at 6:30 pm on March 9 (Monday, not Tuesday as I told a couple of you last night!) at the Jackson County EOC in downtown Jefferson. Sorry for the delay, but schedules are hard to juggle.
On March 4th there will be an exercise in Winder covering mass fatality operations in rural communities. This is designed for those responding to such an emergency and I would hope that we might be involved in an event that resulted in mass fatalities. It’s important for us to understand the context of these events, particularly our served agencies, so that we can be an asset and not a liability.
On March 28 we will participate in a Formidable Footprint exercise from 9 am till noon. Breakfast will be at the Jefferson House at 8 am for those interested. For more information on this, go to:

I encourage you to listen to this pre-training briefing before you come to the exercise:

IF YOU HAVE NOT SIGNED UP AND WANT A CERTIFICATE, SIGN UP AT THE WEB SITE! If you don’t want a certificate, you don’t need to sign up. I’ll keep a record of your participation.
Also I have updated the Jackson/Banks ARES site. http://jackson-banks.metroathensares.org/
I’ll try to do a better job of keeping this current. You can also see the current weather advisories on the home page.
ALSO! Reminder that the ARES net will be tonight at 7:30 on the NEGARC repeater.
