Puja and Kishan with their father Lakhan at Tata Motors Hosppital
Dear Friends,
Kishan and Puja are students of NEEV Vidyalaya, residing in Village Hurlung. Both of them have been our students since the last eight years. (Puja) and five years (Kishan)Their mother works in our soap unit and their father is a construction worker. Kishan and Puja’s father is suffering from an acute leg infection which has resulted in a massive swelling in both the legs.

Sending him to the government hospital was out of question since we have personally seen the death of two youngsters while we were working for slum healthcare eight years ago. So we sent him to Mercy Hospital in Jamshedpur which is a good low cost hospital. However they declined to see him saying that the case was too critical and beyond their capacity.
With no other option left, we got him admitted to Tata Motors Hospital : a private hospital run by Tata Motors. Being a private hospital, the expenses are high. It is simply beyond the means of Puja’s and Kishan’s parents to afford the treatment. Not getting him treated would mean certain death.
As a society, amongst all the inequities, the greatest inequity is the access to healthcare. The rich can get treated and live a good quality and healthy life, while the poor suffer and die. As a responsible person what do we do with this inequity?
We straight away had to pay Rs. 10,000 for getting him admitted and it is expected that his total treatment would cost anywhere up to Rs. 50,000. NEEV is going to bear all the expenses for the treatment. So I am writing to all of you asking for help. In case any one of you are willing to help us with the treatment of Puja’s and Kishan’s father with any amount, please let me know.
