The optimal arrangement for data has more flexibility. Different users can also keep their information private, by storing it in a private location (such as the default data location for manager "C:\Users\AppData\Local\Local\Manager") or a more visible location (eg Manager backups) or a shared local location (eg for Manager files shared by all users on an individual computer) or a shared network location (eg for Manager files accessed from different computers but not simultaneously shared). I have described data storage for Manager but the considerations are identical for your word processor, spreadsheet, music player, anti virus etc.

Xenon File Manager Portable is an easy to use file manager with lots of great features: Portable File Assocations, Tabbed browsing, Bookmarks, Folder view for an overview of the file system, Two great looking themes plus additional downloadable themes.

Process Explorer is an advanced task manager. It is an indispensable tool for both beginners and power users. I use it all the time to kill tasks that refuse to be killed, or find what which processes are still holding on to a particular file or DLL so it refuses to be deleted.

Alternatively, Process Explorer Portable is also available, which is stealth.

DBC Task Manager provides a tabbed interface for usage statistics and system management. Views can be customized, minimized, and tweaked to user needs. The program shows a histogram of CPU, memory, disk, and network activity, as well as an interface for services and startup programs.

The program is similar to Windows 8 task manager, but can run on Windows 7. A 64-bit version is available (within the folder).

Daphne is a task manager replacement with a variety of extra features. It displays a list of currently running process with detailed information about: CPU usage, Process ID, Process name, Full path (and arguments), Priority, Class (Process / Service), Current memory usage, Peek memory usage, Current swap usage, Peek swap usage and Number of threads.

Additionally, the program has a crosshair that can be dragged onto existing windows to Find, Kill, put on top, change transparrency, and even enable/disable. A "trap" feature lets you modify or prioritize processes whenever they appear.

Alternatively, Daphne Portable is also available

My task manager of choice for corralling processes and killing processes that need to go, but takes up a lot of processor power to run on my Win7x64 system. As a result, despite some of the cool monitoring tools included, I generally run it to do something and then immediately close. Also, as many have pointed out, this program really needs a manual.

I've decided to finally use a password manager to keep my passwords safe and stumbled upon keepass. I noticed that there are 2 downloads available for 2.46: a windows installer and a portable version. Are there any advantages to the Windows installation? Would keeping the portable version on my desktop be any less safe?

KeePass is a free open source password manager, which helps you to manageyour passwords in a secure way. You can store all your passwords in onedatabase, which is locked with a master key. So you only have to remember onesingle master key to unlock the whole database. Database files are encryptedusing the best and most secure encryption algorithms currently known(AES-256, ChaCha20 and Twofish). For more information, see the features page.

I receive warning on every shutdown. This same warning happened on an old computer as well. After warning, PC proceeds as if to shutdown, however, WD device power light continues to flash. EasyStore device is connected via USB connection to the PC. There is no option to safely eject when right click on drive in file manager.

Although MiniTool cuts off the installing process, the features of portable partition manager keep coincident with Partition Wizard Free Edition because it comes right from the latter one. What you can find in Partition Wizard Free Edition also appears in the portable version. (View full features)

OK, I discovered that you need to either avoid checking the "Git Credential Manager" checkbox during the Git for Windows installer, or (after installation) run the Bash shell as Administrator and use git config --edit --system to remove the helper = manager line so that it is no longer registered as a credential helper.

In case you do not want to remove or uninstall the credentials manager: see -clone-fail-instead-of-prompting-for-credentials/1054253#answer-1054253 for the solution that worked for me.

IMO it is the best apps manager for removable drive. As about updates of applications - I think that it is part of particular application functionality (e.g. Windows does not check if your favorite game is up to date), but not the feature of applications manager.

I'm familiar with running a X11 server on windows such as Xming, and remote displaying virt-manager from the KVM host to a windows workstation, but what I'd really like here is to know of any solutions native to windows, i.e. is there a version of virt-manager that'll run on windows.

Still no progress on this myself wrt. a native virt-manager client. I did come across a compiled version of libvirtd for windows along with a discussion on a mailing list about how to get libvirtd working on windows. I'm adding the links to this question in the hopes that someone will figure out how to get virt-manager working.

Finally some progress. Came across this project on github called msys_setup which includes a windows port of virt-manager. It's partially functional, doesn't support qem+ssh:// connection type so it's still not usable for our needs, but it's a start.

Cygwin provides the linux tools and facilities around programs so that it feels like a linux environment. For instance, virt-manager can call ssh to make the connection to your KVM Server and would be able to run virsh and send commands to it. It also provides an X-Server.Which is all natively compiled.

If you have the time:You can easily customize the cygwin installation to exactly fit your needs. Just go through the folders, throw everything out you don't need. Write a script that starts the X Server and then virt-manager, zip it up and ey presto! there's your virt-manager for Windows.

The first error is not a problem, just add a new connection and remove the local connection and you are up and running. If your connections are not saved between starts of the virt-manager, you need to perform the dbus session.conf trick:

And I wrote up my own blog post, but I know better than to leave out the details in a URL so I will copy the short form here. ( -virt-manager-inside-windows-10-using-cygwin-with-shortcut-on-desktop-28016650.html)

OneCommander is a modern file manager for Windows 10 and Windows 11. Features include tabs, dual-pane browsers, columns navigation, built-in preview, a theming system, color tags, and much more. It is free for home use and has no ads.

For those of you that haven't used Chocolatey before: Chocolatey is a package manager for Windows that makes it super easy to install and update software on your machine. A single command lets you easily install software and then at any point lets you check for and install updates with another simple command.
