Servant Cab, owned by Kirby Young and his brother, Vance, has petitioned the Public Service Commission to allow them to provide accessible cab service in the state. They are getting substantial resistance in the Omaha area from the current provider of taxi services, which has clearly stated that they will not provide wheelchair accessible vehicles. There is a hearing in Omaha at the State Office Building 1313 Farnam on the Mall in the PSC offices on June 21 at 9:00 am that is open for public comment. If you believe that such a service is needed, please either provide testimony in person or in writing or show up at the hearing to show support by the number of people attending! There has been no concerted effort to provide statewide accessible transportation outside of medicaid service providers and it's about time that others had access!!!
Please show your support! We have met with Kirby and find him to be an honest and conscientious man interested in resolving this issue. He has ordered his first vans with the intention to purchase more when the license is approved.
PLEASE PASS THE WORD!
