The presence of churches is essential for the success of this important public witness. This is because: Public trust in the Church will bring moral authority to the march. This is important in denying the tendency towards normalising corruption in our public institutions.
As churches we have the largest and most organised grassroots structure in the nation. We can make the key difference by mobilising our people and continuing to work against corruption after the march at every level of society from the grassroots to senior leadership.
The Church is best able to inspire and motivate people to recover their sense of agency and civic responsibility and, in the words of the prophet Micah, to act justly, love mercy and walk humbly with the Lord. (Micah 6:8)
