Necronomicon 2021 Gaming Update
GREETINGS FELLOW GAMERS
Necronomicon 2021 is still on course for a live convention this year. It will take place Sept. 24-26 at the Embassy Suites USF in Tampa. Our Author Guests of Honor are Pip Ballantine and Tee Morris. We will have all the great events that you have all come to love at Necro, Art Show, Dealers’ Room, Panels, Trivia, the Masquerade and much more.
COVID
The one bit of bad news is of course the renewed outbreak of Covid-19. The staff has decided, rather than cancel the con and go online again this year, that we will stay with a live con. But we will require all con attendees to properly wear a mask, at all times, in all convention areas. Some people have told us this is a great idea and others have liked it less. The staff agreed that we need to take some precautions to try to help everyone stay safe while having a great time at Necro. If any of you have concerns about this policy, please feel free to email me back (Gaming @stonehill.org) and let me know. We value your opinions and will use them to help make the con better for our attendees in the future.
GAMING
We are light on games as of this update. To have a gaming department we need GM’s. If you would like to run a game. Just go to Necrogaming.org and click on the link to our google form to register your game(s). As always anyone that works 10 hours at Necro is eligible for refunded admission. Remember we place no restrictions on what kind of game you run. Board, card, miniatures, RPG, home-brew, or 1st edition from the 70’s, if you want to run it, we’d love to have it at Necro. Our deadline for registering your game is Wed. Aug 25 at Midnight. We still have lots of space available, so sign up soon and help keep Necro Gaming a success.
VOLUNTEERS
We always need volunteers at the Gaming info table on site at Necro. This is very easy work and a great way to fill your hours in between events. Anyone interested should email me (Gam...@stonehill.org) and I will send you a list of available shifts. An hour of your time can really help the con run smoothly.
HOTEL
Sadly, we have had some problems with hotel reservations this year. Fortunately, these have been solved and you should be able to use this link to make your hotel arrangements:
If you have problems, please try calling the hotel directly and make sure to tell them you are reserving for Necronomicon to get on our room block and get the convention rate of $149/night. If you still have problems, please contact me and I will put you in touch with someone from Stonehill that can help. Remember, after Sept. 1 that rate will go away and room price will go up, so make your reservations soon.
CASH PRIZES
In addition to the Survivors’ Raffle at the end of the con where we give away all the loot we’ve gotten from our generous sponsors, this year we will have a cash prize budget from a company called GGtoor, organizers of online gaming tournaments. To be eligible, all you need to do is find the Link posted in convention registration and follow the instructions to sign up with a free GGtoor account. Then simply participate in any of the designated events for a chance to win. For more info on the company, check out their website at https://ggtoor.com/home.php
