Talk #3: Riding the Waves of Globalization: The Evolution of China's IT Service Industry
The IT Services is a young and fast growing industry in China. It is also referred to as the outsourcing industry. Through a decade of development, the industry has evolved from almost nothing to a $20 billion dollar business, its service providers grew from small local project contracting, body shopping firms to the professional service providers with over 10,000 employees, global footprint, and full services to meet the needs of consulting, IT and business operations. China has risen as a competitive IT services destination second only to India. The second decade of China's IT service industry will witness a major transformation: the appearance of real global services providers that can compete squarely with the leading IT services companies such as IBM, Accenture, TCS and InfoSys.
