Dr. Shuang DENG, a New England distinguished entrepreneur, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family, in early morning of Saturday, January 8th, 2012 at Zhongshan Hospital in Shanghai, China, after a few years of fighting against cancer. He was 48 when leaving us.

Funeral services for Dr. Deng will be held in Shanghai China, at the Yin He Hall of Longhua Funeral Home on Thursday January 12th, 2012 from 9:30 to 10:30 Beijing time.

In order for relatives and friends in Boston area to memorize the last moment of saying Good-Bye to Shuang, we will hold a live broadcast from this funeral service, on Wednesday January 11th, 2012, from 8pm to 9:30pm, at

To share, in the past few years Dr. Deng was the head of Alcatel Lucent R&D China operation and made significant contributions. Prior to Alcatel Lucent, he founded and co-founded a few high-tech companies, of which the most successful one is Aptis which got acquired in 1988 by Nortel for 300 million. Dr Deng was vice president of product marketing and management of Tiburon Networks. Prior to Tiburon, he was a vice president at Nortel Networks where he was responsible for product and program management of the network access product line. 

Dr. Deng was previously with GTE Laboratories. He served as the chair of the network architecture committee at the ADSL Forum from 1995 to 1997. Before GTE, he worked at Hewlett-Packard as a software architect of the industry's first ATM broadband tester.

Dr. Deng held 11 patents received on data and voice network technologies. He received a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from the University of Alberta in Canada, and master's and bachelor's degrees in computer science from Huazhong University of Science and Technology.

We all miss Shuang, and wish Shuang to have peace and joy in heaven.
