Senior Mechanical Engineer

This individual will perform tasks associated with design of advanced
rotating bio‐processing equipment in engineering department, and
provide necessary accurate and timely documentation to support other
functions such as quality, purchasing, assembly and service. Help
ensure and improve the operation of products while considering ways to
reduce manufacturing costs. Daily functions require minimal
supervision.
JOB FUNCTIONS: include, but are not limited to, the following:
•
Prepare complex design proposals and detail drawings in accordance
with Engineering and Quality Standards from rough sketches, models or
verbal descriptions using 2D and 3D design programs including AutoCAD
and Solid Works.
•
Create, analyze and refine designs using knowledge and experience
along with computer analysis programs such as FEA and CFD.
•
Prepare studies and calculations to assist in preparation of designs.
•
Prepare bills of material and cost estimates as required.
•
Maintain drawing and specification files, control revisions, access
and document distribution.
•
Review and check own work and work of others for conformance to
Engineering Standards (ASME, ANSI Y14.5, etc.) for dimensions,
tolerances, manufacturability and cost.
•
Work with Manufacturing, Service, Suppliers and Customers to resolve
design/ documentation problems.
BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE / EDUCATION:
•
Must have demonstrated passion for machinery, creativity in design,
and experience with hands‐on assembly and experimental testing.
•
Must have track record in designing and fabricating successful
machinery products from concept to final production release.
•
Minimum bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering.
•
Minimum 8 years of experience preferably in bio‐processing equipment
design and manufacturing with design aspects including materials,
welding, and machining.
•
Must have extensive experience with Solid Works, COSMOS, AutoCAD and
other design software.
•
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in team
environments with other technical and non‐technical staffs and
suppliers.
•
Strong attention to details and commitment to project requirements.
•
Working knowledge of industry standards and ASME codes used by bio
process equipment industry.
•
Ability to handle multiple priorities, detailed work, reasoning,
deadlines, and design‐of‐experiments (DOEs).
