As some of you probably know, Janice Chernekoff is planning on stepping down as the editor of American Randonneur at the end of 2022.  She's had an incredible run, 10 years, working with her team to produce our full color magazine.

While Editor is the title, that's only the tip of the iceberg.  Chasing down new articles, working with contributors to make an article actually interesting, editing articles to length, correcting grammar without losing the "voice" of the contributor, farming out the articles to her team for review, working with our exterior layout person and the printer, answering questions from our members - the job description encompasses a lot and she has a well oiled process and team.

Janice's team is well aware of her plans.  So far no one has raised their hand.  Janice prepared a job description / activity flow that we can use on request.  That level of detail is only going to be useful to someone who is seriously interested in the assignment and has the time to take this on.

Feel free to circulate this to your distribution list.  If you know of someone who might have the requisite skills and interest, let me or anyone on the Board know so that we can follow up.  We have some time to find the right person but it would be best if that person is able to shadow Janice for part of 2022.

It's a real opportunity for someone to make their mark within RUSA.

Dave Thompson

"It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them.  Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle." - Ernest Hemingway
