If there was any doubt, it's definitely that time of year again... Severe weather!
In addition to Spencer's note asking for any info about storm damage to our routes, also be aware that many areas saw significant rainfall over the last 48 hours.
If you're riding any of our area permanent routes this next week (or any time in the near future, take a moment to review the route before heading out and look at some of the following resources (links below). A few routes south of the KC metro have some sections under water today, for example.
Be aware of natural river and creek behavior, as well, and when they are forecast to crest. I can't tell you how entertaining it is to pass over a river in the early miles of a ride, thinking everything will be fine, only to find it over the road when returning several hours later... even though the rain had stopped the day before.

Each of these sites are interactive and configurable to display road closures due to flooding, along with the usual construction closures, and (for later) winter weather, etc.
Remember, even a few inches of moving water can sweep your cycling shoes out from under you - I've been there, and it's not a good time. Turn around, don't drown, add the extra miles, or make a phone call. It's just a bike ride, after all.
Stay informed, and be safe out there!
