Hi all,
I have plans to meet some friends in Nebraska City on Sept 28th and am planning to fly into Lincoln City on the 26th so I can get in a long ride the weekend before. I'm planning to bring a folding bike that I do rando rides and long distance touring on.
Here's my question: I've never been to Nebraska before, and I like riding with fellow randonneurs when I have the chance. So I'm tempted by the 400km on Sept 27th if I can figure out how to get to Falls City. But there doesn't seem to be a very good way to do so without a car, and I'm not sure I want to add an extra hundred miles of riding just to get to the 400k.
My alternatives would be to:
- Ride a Permanent:
- From Nebraska City:
- Fly into Lincoln with my CC touring gear, ride over to Nebraska City following Spencer's route to Syracuse, and then do the Missouri River Populaire (#04133)
- Fly into Kansas City with my CC touring gear and do a loop up to Lincoln on #00335 and back around to Nebraska City
- Fly into Grand Island with CC touring gear, and ride out to Nebraska City over two days via Lincoln and the Great Plains Gravel Route (35mm tires), and then following Spencer's route to Syracuse and across to Nebraska City
Given that this is probably my one chance to ride in Nebraska in the foreseeable future, what would you recommend?
