Yale BIRCWH Scholar Program (K12) on Women’s Health and Addictive
Behaviors
Women’s Health Research at Yale (

index.aspx ) and the Yale Psychiatry’s Division of Addictions (http://
psychiatry.yale.edu/research/programs/divisions_people/
addictions.aspx ) announce junior faculty position openings within a
research career development program focused on women’s health and
addictive behaviors. This program is funded by the National
Institutes of Health Office of Research on Women’s Health and the
National Institute on Drug Abuse.
Scholar candidates have the opportunity to work on research projects
with experienced, productive mentors from different disciplines (e.g.,
psychology, psychiatry, neuroscience, health policy, internal and
emergency medicine, genetics) and are supported in the development of
their own project. Projects can include basic (e.g., molecular
biology), translational (e.g. psychopharmacology), or clinical (e.g.,
psychotherapy, pharmacotherapy) research. Career development
activities are built around an innovative, integration of
interdisciplinary research mentoring, professional coaching, team
science work groups, and didactic seminars. Additional funds are
provided for an independent research project, and professional
development. Up to 25% time can be spent on clinical or other training
relevant activities, or in a tutored experience learning how to build
a women’s health research program.
Scholar candidates typically will be within three years of completing
their doctoral degree from an accredited graduate school or medical
school residency and have at least one year of supervised research
experience in an area related to women’s health or addictions. Initial
faculty appointment will be Instructor, Assistant Professor, or
Associate Research Scientist depending on prior research training and
scholarly productivity. Scholars must be U.S. citizens.
