Good Morning All:

Another barometer of the upcoming season and the lack of interest therein is the "poor" traffic on this list (I'm referring to message counts not individuals who frequent the list). By this time I would be getting 20 or more messages a day in my inbox talking about this person or that person or analyzing the defensive or offensive strategy so far this year none of that has occurred (at least on this list). There have been several days in the past week (less than three weeks to kickoff) where there has been
no traffic.

I also haven't seen a ticket "wanted" or "for sale" request since June and usually those start to increase as we get closer to the first game. Maybe tickets are getting easy to buy. On this subject I was talking to someone the other day who lamented the fact that they would like to have season tickets. I told them to call the ticket office and donate $300 and then buy some tickets. They looked at me with great surprise and said "you can do that?" I told them yes you can call them and see what happens, they
worst they can say is sorry we don't have any. Well two days later this person called me and said I can't believe they still have tickets! They called (the ticket office) made a donation ($300) and were "rewarded" with a pair of season tickets. This is just three weeks before the season starts so one wonders if some of the interest could be fading?

Further on the subject of tickets, it will be interesting to see how they are going to handle the new seating areas (in the North End Zone) next year if they are still offering season tickets for this year. Some, though I don't think all, season ticket holders were surveyed (I was surveyed) a couple of months ago on their thoughts regarding seating and donations etc., while it didn't specifically say anything about the new seating area my feeling is that they are about to really shake things up in Memorial
Stadium.

I have a feeling that if NU does well this year (say 8-3 or better) before this calendar year is over or very early next year (early 2006, not early season) ticketholders are going to receive a letter telling them of some type of new donation requirements that may require a donation for every seat you hold in that building regardless of location. I also think there could be a reseating of the stadium based on past donations and current donations which will cause quite a stir. We've operated under the curre
nt system for 13 years now and there seems to be quite a "disparity" of seat locations. We have non-donors sitting on the 50 yard line while some $3,000 donors are perched in row 70 of the north and south endzone. I'm sensing a growing frustration among those who are donating either by requirement or desire with this arrangement.

Given that the ticket office still has season tickets for sale, I have to
wonder whether this is the year that the last of NU's streaks - sold-out
games - finally ends.
