"This is almost a route" - right after Clemson scored a touchdown to
make it 21-10. Oh really? I didn't know a team being down by 11 early
in the 3rd quarter and had possession of the ball could be considered a
route. Good call!
"Nebraska will never establish the run game today They should stop
trying." - this came seconds before Castille ripped of a 50+ yard gain,
only to finish with 125 yards on 18 carries (a measily 6.9 YPC).
-Ragging on Nate Swift for "flat out dropping" a slant route that was
thrown hard, slightly beyond his reach, and low.
It sure seems like this blowhard was obsessed with ragging on Nebraska
today. A fitting end to the game would have been Joe Ganz taking the
gameball and shoving it right down his throat. Thank God we don't play
many games on CBS!

And also, that #28 kid who got the penalty for throwing the ball did that about 3-4 other times and got away with it. Watch the tape!

You're free to have that opinion. It may have been "catchable", but I
don't agree that it was the "huge mistake" that Fouts claimed. The way
he singled out Nate was borderline classless, and complete ignorance.
What a clown that guy was.

Spiller at least had some pretty good returns today. I was really
pleased when we kicked deep into the endzone and there was no
return.

What a maroon. Good way to respond. :)
Another benefit of being at the game--didn't have to listen to a
dumb announcer.

That was C.J. Spiller. After he got flagged for the throw, I turned
to the fellow next to us and asked if that move was Thunder or
Lightning.
Having said that, I thought Ganz showed us the most gutsy bit of leadership he has displayed all year. Overcoming a dinged ankle and a blow to the head. He just kept going and going about like the Energizer Bunny. He has done so well since becoming a starter. This is a great game as his last as a Husker!!
Others have mentioned seniors, Swift, Peterson, Suh as well as Ganz. Certainly Steinkuhler played a huge part in the win as well. This game was certainly a display of the no-quite attitude/effort of this Husker team and coaching staff. And, it was on national TV (even if it was CBS).
A great win. A great way to end Bo's first season as head coach!

Well, I didn't see both, so it's hard to compare. :)
Seriously, it was one of the best games I've been to. The weather
was pretty good--really warm when the sun was out, which was much of
the first half. The second half clouded up and cooled off a bit,
but it was still very comfortable in a sweatshirt.
We've not been to too many games, but have made it to the last three
bowl games. Dallas was not that great a destination, but this (so
far) ranks up there with San Antonio. This game was probably about
as exciting as that Alamo Bowl too. :) Bo is 2 for 2 in Nebraska
bowl games.
I looked at tickets through the NU site, but didn't want to sit in
the corner--so I splurged on better seats. We were on the 45 yard
line, about 13 rows back from the field. It was a great spot, but
an older fellow we talked to on the shuttle into the game comes to
lots of games here and said there isn't a bad seat. It really felt
like the stadium was nicely drawn in to the field.
Our tickets were on the Nebraska side, but there were quite a few
Clemson fans in our section. They were *loud* before the game, and
for the first half, but they got awfully quiet in the second half.
It looked like Clemson folks outnumbered us slightly, but they sure
cleared out quickly at the end! All we talked to and were around
were very civil and pleasant.
As I mentioned in an earlier post, the replays in the stadium were
*terrible*. On many of the replays, critical parts of the play were
off the bottom of the big screens. In retrospect, I think it was
the aspect ratio not matched up on these very wide screens, and the
bottom portions of the picture were simply cut off. For example, on
many of the pass replays the camera would follow the ball in the air
and the receiver/defender would not be visible until the ball was
there.
On the play that was reviewed for Ganz fumble, none of the replays
showed his knees or the contact with the ground. That was a long
wait, by the way. When the announcer said, "After review, the
player was down..." he was completely drowned out by cheering as
soon as the word "down" came out.
Pelini thanked the team for their spirit in his comments after the
awards, and then also thanked the Nebraska fans--calling them the
best in college football.
All in all, a great experience and a great win.

Good summary Theodore. I wish I could have been there!
For what it's worth, it was actually Witt who almost fumbled, as Ganz
was knocked out on the previous play. I can tell you that it was the
correct call. Witt's right knee came down well before the football came
out, and it looked like his left knee was down too. The lack of a good
replay in the stadium does explain why the Clemson fans were booing the
correct call.

It was worth the expense--no doubt in my mind.

Of course you're right. Somehow it got muddled up in my mind. :)

Thanks for the additional information!
My wife went into the concession area during that time, and when she
came back noted that the guys on the TV coverage showing inside were
all over the refs about how coould they have called it a fumble. I
suspected as much because in the view we had you could see the QB's
hip come up before the ball came out, and that must have been caused
by his knee hitting the ground--but without seeing the knee it
looked doubtful there was enough evidence to overturn. I was plenty
nervous. Also think you are right on the booing explanation.

Not only were Fouts' comments about the game being a rout completely off the mark, I had to laugh when Fouts (mere moments later) said the game "could be a shoot-out."
In terms of offering insightful color commentary, I'd put Fouts right up there with former NBA star, Bill Russell, who once said "he has such a high shooting percentage because he takes the high percentage shots." Fouts can't retire fast enough for me.
