Great to hear from you P Mac, and glad you are on the whole doing
okay. I'm gonna take a short cut, and paste in the letter we sent
out this year...
Ted
Dear Family and Friends,
As 2017 races to an end, we come to you with our best wishes and
latest happenings.
This year brought many changes to our family. Most notably, Ted
took on a new work opportunity; opting to return to MED Institute
where he will head up regulatory and clinical services for MED
clients. This gives him an opportunity to take on new challenges,
and ideally contribute to accelerating the availability of new
technologies for patient care.
The change in Ted.s job meant that Kathy had to put up with
another change in location, as it included a move back to West
Lafayette. She displayed her usual good humor and grace with the
changes, putting her heart into finding a lovely house and getting
it set up as a wonderful home. Kathy is now working for the
Artful Learning program, traveling occasionally to help train new
schools in this curriculum. She has also qualified as a Zumba
instructor at the Parkwest Fitness Center, near our home.
This year Michael passed the entrance requirements for working in
the U.S. Foreign Service. This is a career direction he has
worked hard for, and is likely to give him and Jola the chance to
see more of the world.assuming there will be actual jobs under
this new administration (ugh). Meanwhile, Jola took travel
opportunities into her own hands and has arranged an overseas tour
of duty with her current employer, spending the first quarter of
2018 in Southeast Asia. Stops are expected to include Kuala
Lumpur, Bangkok, and Yangon (that.s Myanmar, Ted had to look it
up),
2017 saw Aaron deployed to the Middle East area yet again. He
survived the heat (and other .niceties. of being deployed), and he
and Nikki will be able to spend the holidays together this year.
Kathy and Ted were proud to learn that Aaron was recently
recognized as pilot of the month! They also hope to get out to
Southern California in the next couple of months to visit Nikki
and Aaron.
This past spring, Rob and Claudia brought another child into their
family: Penelope (Poppy) Lee Heise. Kathy and Ted were able to
visit shortly after Poppy was born, and to do the doting
grandparent thing. They also got to spend the Thanksgiving
holiday and weekend in Scarborough; getting better acquainted with
Poppy, and helping celebrate Eliot.s fourth (oh my!) birthday.
Kathy and Ted have continued with the ballroom dancing lessons at
their local Arthur Murray studio, and recently succeeded in
graduating from the Silver IV level. Any further advancement will
need to be in Gold, and at a new studio. Very recently they tried
the AM in Zionsville, and liked it quite a lot.despite the 1-hour
drive.
In closing, please accept our love and best wishes for a happy and
peaceful holiday season.
