Configuring Host Checker PolicyEnsure that user endpoints have signed ActiveX components or signed Java applets enabled or PSAL downloaded within their browsers to permit Host Checker to download, install, and launch.
- Use this option only for dynamic rules, such as checking whether Real Time Protection is enabled on the antivirus software. Use the host checker update frequency to monitor other rules periodically.
- Monitor this rule for change in result for port check is applicable only for Windows and not for Linux or MAC machines.
- The remediation support for patch management rule is not supported for Mac platform. If any missing patch is found, the endpoint will not be triggered to automatically install the missing patches. Currently, this is possible in Windows platform using SCCM client.
- Patch management on Mac OS is qualified only with one product that is Software Update on Mac 10.11, 10.12 and 10.13. You can use V4 SDK for Patch management on Mac platform.
- CVE check rule is supported with active OPSWAT SDK version V4.
- OPSWAT version 3 does not support CVE rules. These rules will always be evaluated as failed and may cause the host checker policy to fail. We recommend to either delete CVE rules or use OPSWAT V4 SDK for CVE rules support.
- In non-English installations, the English version of local patches is displayed.
- The patch management policy cannot be used in L2 case with some products when they require internet connectivity to get the latest patch status.
- Use this rule type to combine multiple policies for performing advanced host checking. The supported policy types are ports, process, file, registry setting, NETBIOS, MAC address and machine certificate. It allows Administrator to dynamically configure the expected values from registry locations on the endpoint for evaluating the policies.
- This feature is supported only on Windows platform.
- In an Active/Passive cluster, the Active/Passive nodes' individual IP addresses must be added to the RIMV as the system IP addresses.
- The successful addition of remote IMV server is not logged in the event log.
- When Host Checker fails, custom instructions are not displayed. There is no user access log on the system about Host Checker failure.
Download the appropriate HostChecker tarball for the engine from Tarballs follow the naming convention "hostchecker__.tar". For example, if validating a linux x86 host, download the hostchecker_linux_x86.tar tarball.
Read the output of the check. The general format is that severity increases farther down the output. First comes informational output, then warnings, then errors. If you see a message that starts with Internal Error, forward it to Delphix Support immediately. This represents a potential bug in the HostChecker, and not necessarily a problem with your environment.
Error or warning messages will explain any possible problems and how to address them. Resolve the issues that the HostChecker describes. Do not be surprised or undo your work if more errors appear the next time you run HostChecker, because the error you just fixed may have been masking other problems.

I am facing issues with Pulse Secure in macOS Ventura. Hostchecker.app is blocked by macOS as it is not from an identified developer. Any Idea how this can be allowed as this is causing SAML authentications to fail.
Message in system Settings: "HostChecker.app" was blocked from use because it is not from an identified developer.
Error: "HostChecker.app" is damaged and can't be opened. You should move it to the Bin.
It's possible to clear a quarantine flag which allows unsigned apps to run, but I'd push on the vendor for a signed app since this requirement has been present for years. If it's just blocked because the app is unsigned, running xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /path/to/app should enable it to open. If the app is "damaged" I'd look more at packaging/distribution.
How are you distributing Pulse Secure? I'm not familiar with it. I looked up the deployment procedure. The first thing I found was how to do it with AirWatch. If there's an app you're trying to distribute, and they don't make it available as a deployable package you may need to make one of your own using Composer. I have done that for a few different apps. If you need to distribute packages during PreStage they need to be signed.
Pulse Secure lists versions on their web site KB that should be compatible with the signed/notarized requirements of macOS. I would recommend opening a support ticket with Pulse Secure if a later version is failing a check. If you're using an older version on a later OS, given what this tool does, it will most likely not work the way you want, even if you try to over-ride some of the security checks.
The app you are deploying is not notarized and gatekeeper is eating it. The applications developer simply needs to notarize the app. Sometimes you can do some shenanigans with xattr to whitelist the app, but you will need to do this every time you update the app. If the developer wants to make a macOS app, they need to make it right and one of those things is to notarize the application.
