OUR NOVEMBER MEETING IS TOMORROW
----------
Refresh Boston meets again tomorrow with special guest speaker Scott
Berkun
(http://scottberkun.com). Scott is an author and speaker whose work has
appeared in the The Washington Post, The New York Times, Wired Magazine,
Fast Company, Forbes Magazine, and more. He will be promoting his latest
work, Confessions of a Public Speaker, with a presentation loosely
based on
the book, emphasizing situations designers and creative people face.

Scott should hopefully be able to give away a few copies of the new
book as
well thanks to the folks at O'Reilly. After the presentation and
follow-up
questions, we'll be heading to Tommy Doyle's for drinks and Scott
will be
happy to continue the discussion.

Development
Center in Cambridge, which is located just a few blocks from the Kendall
Square T stop.

You'll need to first check in at the front desk on the 1st floor as a
guest
of Microsoft and then head up to the 11th floor (where you'll need to
check
in once again, but it's painless, we
swear...) to access their gorgeous multi-level space.

(PS. Update your Upcoming profile with your real name to help us get
you on
a guest list and speed up the process.)

Parking is available on-site for $10 and at 1 Broadway for $7.
Street parking around the building is generally easy to find nearby
as well,
which is free after 6PM.

FOOD & DRINKS THANKS TO OUR SPONSORS
----------
A special thanks goes out to our regular sponsors, Slim Kiwi & Boston
Web
Studio. We'd also like to thank Microsoft for hosting us throughout the
year, as anyone who's been to a Refresh Boston event before knows it's a
wonderful space.

Slim Kiwi (http://slimkiwi.com) is a small design and development
firm with
high standards, always on the lookout for additions to its roster of
great
clients and freelancers.

Boston Web Studio (http://bostonwebstudio.com) specializes in
designing and
developing attractive, modern, accessible websites that appeal to the
visitors your business needs to reach.

O'Reilly (http://www.oreilly.com) is offering up a few copies of
Scott's new
book, but don't forget that Refresh Boston members can save 35% off all
titles using the discount code DSUG.

OUR LAST EVENT IN 2009
----------
2009 is coming to a close, and it's been an incredible year for Refresh
Boston. We'd like to thank all of our speakers for donating their
time and
knowledge to attendees, our sponsors for providing food and
giveaways, not
to mention Microsoft for hosting us. But most importantly, thanks to
all of
you for coming each month and making it all worthwhile.

Our December event is still being finalized, but a slight change in
plans
brings us the excellent Margot Bloomstein who will be presenting on the
topic of Content Strategy:

http://upcoming.yahoo.com/event/4768677/

Margot recently wrote an article for A List Apart
(http://alistapart.com) entitled The Case for Content Strategy - Motown
Style, in which she talks about the need for a real plan when it
comes to
content on a website.

We're still looking for more speakers for 2010. We already have a
planned
follow-up to our February presentation on usability testing with Matthew
Oliphant (http://xhipi.com). There's been a lot of interest in having a
presentation on wireframing with OmniGraffle. If you or someone you know
would like to give a talk at an upcoming Refresh Boston event, let us
know
at le...@refreshboston.org and we'll work something out.
