With the adoption of Bootstrap as the basis for all extension user interfaces, starting with Joomla 3, comes a paradigm shift of how custom templates are created. With the use of a common UI toolkit, CSS now drives the markup. This presentation will help you get started with creating custom templates using the new paradigm. Applicable to first time template creators, as well as those new to creating custom templates for Joomla 3, we'll start simple by creating a template without writing a single line of CSS, then build on that foundation by discussing how to leverage and extend Bootstrap as the common core user interface.

With a primary focus on open-source technology, Joomla has been an obvious fit for Justin in his corporate and freelance work. He continually donates time to numerous non-profit organizations across New Hampshire, managing websites powered by Joomla, Drupal and Wordpress. He is the manager of the official Joomla New Hampshire User Group. In Track 2’s "Menus, Media and Core Modules" ,Justin will walk you through the internal features of Joomla that allow you to easily create menus, add/edit content like text, pictures, video, and audio, and make use of the modules wisely to feature your content nicely for the user.
