Thank you for the update!

Could you please include near-north...@googlegroups.com on future email communications?

Also, an issue I observed during the East Central and East area planning process is that connections between the two planning areas seemed to be neglected.

Will someone be focusing on connecting the Near Northeast area to the surrounding planning areas?

Thank you in advance for your response.

Respectfully,

Good afternoon,

Thank you for volunteering to help shape the future of your neighborhood and participate in the upcoming Near Northeast Area Plan! As we prepare to work with community members through next year, we are excited to see the passion for Near Northeast neighborhoods and learn from the great knowledge base already embedded in the community.

We received interest from nearly 100 community members for 20 advisory committee positions. Unfortunately, we will not be able to accommodate you on the committee, but we will still hope to have your valuable input throughout the process. The 18-month planning effort will include multiple ways to participate, including community workshops, focus groups, and surveys. We will rely on broader community input through these methods to shape the Near Northeast Plan. Please stay tuned for follow-up invites to participate in these discussions.

More about the Advisory Committee Selection

We used the following guiding principles to bring together a 20-member committee that reflects a diverse set of interests in the plan area. The committee will include:

  • Residents who are demographically representative of the planning area. To ensure an equitable process and outcomes, selection prioritized creating an advisory committee that represents the variety of income levels, racial and ethnic identities, ages and housing types (owners vs renters) in the planning area.
  • A mix of perspectives and experiences. Committee members include residents, local business owners, property owners, members of neighborhood and advocacy groups, and representatives from other community-serving organizations.
  • A balance of neighborhoods. The committee will include residents from each of the five neighborhoods in the plan area.

Thank you for your commitment to the Near Northeast neighborhoods. Please reach out if you have any questions.

Best regards,
