Hello fellow 900 users et all,
I haven’t seen any discussions here of the current situation. Any thoughts, anyone filing comments and has any comment template been created.

If this is adopted and looks like it will be granted there should be a condition of this approval to reimburse amateur operators and users cost of equipment investments. Federal money has been awarded to the company that wants to take over the band segment. I myself have spent a lot of money on equipment for 900 amateur to then throw it all in a dumpster due to it will be worthless after FCC approval. Many years ago the ARRL did not see any issues with 900 amateur impact and they are citing this in proposal.

This is really depressing after building the network. All three sites are linked and operational and now to hear this. I guess this will free up a ton of space since everything I have will be trash.

I’m wondering what they’ll do about ISM band users in the same segment?   Personally I have a number of those Retevis radios I use for business and have one programmed for our 900 network as it does analog too.  Seems the non licensed users would be impossible to reign in.

Hi Paul:

Greg, WB6ZSU, forwarded the petition to the list last week. I haven’t made a template but if you would like to borrow my research I have posted my comments that I submitted here: https://www.n1wbv.net/response-to-the-nextnav-fcc-petition.html

Some good news: I have been watching the comments submitted this week and, along with Hams, it looks like some RFID industry group issued a call to arms as well because certain long range tags work on 900MHz ISM. I have observed several comments submitted saying that NextNav will royally screw up tracking of shipping containers.

Thanks Ben,
I believe the remote reading power meters might be in the band too which if true has a major influence if so.

Thanks for the update. I never saw any details prior to finding out today.

I know the FCC doesn’t want to see boilerplate comments however seeing wording sure helps sometimes.

Thank you for your response!

In addition, my Davis weather station uses 900 to communicate between the outdoor sensor and the indoor console.  Chances are there are tens of thousands of these devices in use around the US. I’d be willing to bet other WX station manufacturers use 900 as well.
