At some point in the near future, hopefully the next week or so, we will be replacing the Abington (Sometimes known as Abington 2, formerly Pembroke) repeater with a Quantar.
At the same time, we will be adding it to the NEAR-900 linked network, and changing the input frequency to 902.0625, with a PL of 123.0. The P25 NAC will be 123, TX & RX. As with all other NEAR-900 repeaters, you can enter 73 on DTMF and it will unlink
until there is no activity for a period of time, then it will re-link itself. We’re hoping that the new below 902.1 input will help with the part 15 interference, and will be closer to the spec of the tower mounted shared RX preamp for commercial customers.
So the new info will be:
Repeater TX: 927.6250 PL 100.0 NAC 123
Repeater RX: 902.0625 PL 123.0 NAC 123
We are also adding a new NEAR-900 P25 network that will work in parallel with the existing analog IRLP network. This network may be accessed using P25 talkgroups 1 or 900 for now, and your radio ID must be your DMR radio ID in order to work on the network.
The DMR ID requirement is not our choice, but seems to be unavoidable in the pi-star software. Abington and Marshfield are on this network, but other Quantar repeaters will be added soon.
Right now this repeater is being tested out at my house in Rockland. It’s on a mag mount antenna, but I have heard it a few miles away. We’re still working out some bugs with the IRLP node.
This Saturday, KC1HO and I will be available to reprogram any 900 radios for this change at the Whitman ARC Winterfest flea market. The flea is from 9 to 1 at the Whitman K of C hall on route 18, just south of the Abington line.
