I like #1, the fern is a nice touch. Is it possible to make the
political boundaries a little darker?

Hi Karen,

I was wondering about this. They were dark to begin with, but if they
are too dark they make the text less readable. However, I think we
can darken them a bit without muddling things.

This message has been moved from another thread:

Hi,

I wanted to comment about the banners, but did not where to do it, so
I hope you do not mind reading it here.
I liked very much the options 3 or 4 of the banner. Since our
collections include not only vascular plants, but algae, fungi,
perhaps we do not need to include the representations of any group (I
like ferns, but then I am thinking, "I would like to have a flower
added too").

Cheers!
Alina.

I like #1. Having a plant adds an aesthetic balance. I don't have a
problem with using the fern, although I would be in favor of trying 3
little thumbnail-type photos in a row to represent some of our
different plant groups, if you had the time to put that together.
Would you have trouble coming up with taxa that represent our
geographic coverage, membership-wise?

Patrick,
I like Banner 1 best but might try the brown map (as in Banner 2)
behind the type just to see if that looks even better, essentially
using the Banner 1 type with the Banner 2 background.

Hi Patrick,
I also like banner 1, but second Bob's suggestion that the background
map might look better in brown.

Although I'm a fungus person, I like the fern. I'd suggest we gather
some photos representing our range of taxa to include on the pages
themselves. That way we can keep the banner simple and strong, and
we'll have a bit of interest to break up the text elsewhere on our
site.

Next stop, the URL:
northeasternherbaria.org ??

I am in for Banner 1 with the suggested tweaks...

Kathie, I think that northeasternherbaria.org may be a little long but
gets around the acronym issue. Otherwise CNEH.org is available I
think. SHould we start a new thread to discuss this?
