Hello,

Firstly, thanks to everyone who has contributed. There has been a
fair amount of discussion on the site and it seems we are getting
close to reaching a consensus on the name and to settling on wording
for the Mission and Subsidiary Goals.

Regarding a name, several have offered "Consortium of Northeastern
Herbaria" (CNH) as their first or second choice. Are there any
objections to adopting this name and acronym?

Here is the latest Mission statement and subsidiary goals:

"The Consortium of Northeastern Herbaria unites herbaria in
northeastern North America to provide online access to specimen data
housed in member institutions, with particular emphasis on collections
from the region."

"The consortium has the subsidiary goals of:

-Facilitating herbarium-based biodiversity research and conservation
activities.

-Sharing knowledge on digitization and other museum informatics
technologies.

-Coordinating with other relevant regional, national, and
international networks and organizations.

-Obtaining funding to support the goals of the consortium."

If there are no objections or amendments, let us aim for adopting
these by Monday.

Cheers,
Patrick

I think the subsidiary goals look fine.
I just went through the goals for SERNAC, the California consortium
and TORCH again, and I don't see anything there that we need.
What we have seems very reasonable; there's nothing that says we can't
become more ambitious after achieving these goals. Let's stay focused
on this one important task for now.

I vote to adopt the June 11 name and statements.
